As a few of you have been asking how to make these snowflakes… I will try and upload a YouTube video real soooooon <3

Banana Baby

October 23, 2014

I going to be loud and proud and admit I am obsessed with bananas! I am not about to go banana crazy but I do blend one or two almost everyday (that’s if I am not chopping up the little yellow fella and chucking it into my baobab cinnamon porridge.

I did a little research online and found 25 awesome Banana ‘facts.’

Due to my kind hearted nature I thought it was only fair to share all the banana facts/uses below:

  1. Bananas help overcome depression due to high levels of tryptophan, which is converted into serotonin — the happy-mood brain neurotransmitter.
  2. Eat two bananas before a strenuous workout to pack an energy punch and sustain your blood sugar.
  3. Protect against muscle cramps during workouts and nighttime leg cramps by eating a banana.
  4. Counteract calcium loss during urination and build strong bones by supplementing with a banana.
  5. Improve your mood and reduce PMS symptoms by eating a banana, which regulates blood sugar and produces stress-relieving relaxation.
  6. Bananas reduce swelling, protect against type II diabetes, aid weight loss, strengthen the nervous system, and help with the production of white blood cells, all due to high levels of vitamin B-6.
  7. Strengthen your blood and relieve anemia with the added iron from bananas.
  8. High in potassium and low in salt, bananas are officially recognized by the FDA as being able to lower blood pressure and protect against heart attack and stroke.

    Eating Bananas Aids Digestion

  9. Rich in pectin, bananas aid digestion and gently chelate toxins and heavy metals from the body.
  10. Bananas act as a prebiotic, stimulating the growth of friendly bacteria in the bowel. They also produce digestive enzymes to assist in absorbing nutrients.
  11. Constipated? High fiber in bananas can help normalize bowel motility.
  12. Got the runs? Bananas are soothing to the digestive tract and help restore lost electrolytes after diarrhoea.
  13. Bananas are a natural antacid, providing relief from acid reflux, heartburn and GERD.
  14. Bananas are the only raw fruit that can be consumed without distress to relieve stomach ulcers by coating the lining of the stomach against corrosive acids.

Natural Cures From A Simple Banana

  15. Eating bananas will help prevent kidney cancer, protects the eyes against macular degeneration and builds strong bones by increasing calcium absorption.
  16. Bananas make you smarter and help with learning by making you more alert. Eat a banana before an exam to benefit from the high levels of potassium.
  17. Bananas are high in antioxidants, providing protection from free radicals and chronic disease.
  18. Eating a banana between meals helps stabilize blood sugar and reduce nausea from morning sickness.
  19. Rub a bug bite or hives with the inside of the banana peel to relieve itching and irritation.
  20. Control blood sugar and avoid binging between meals by eating a banana.
  21. Eating a banana can lower the body temperature and cool you during a fever or on a hot day.
  22. The natural mood-enhancer tryptophan, helps to relieve Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
  23. Quitting smoking? Bananas contain high levels of B-vitamins as well as potassium and magnesium to speed recovery from the effects of withdrawal.
  24. Remove a wart by placing the inside of a piece of banana peel against the wart and taping it in place.
  25. Rub the inside of a banana peel on your leather shoes or handbag and polish with a dry cloth for a quick shine

Greasy hair beware!

October 20, 2014

Have you ever found yourself in a grim and ‘greasy’ situation and you’ve finished the last of your dry shampoo?!? No stress… baby powder is the perfect cover up! You can sprinkle it onto your roots or brush it throughout your hair.  Not only does it remove the oil but it smells clean.

Baby powder works wonders for blondes/grey hairs. QUICK TIP: You could also add a little bit of cocoa powder to the baby powder if you are brunette… Redheads try cinnamon… brush it throughout your hair.

Other awesome uses for Baby Powder include:

Ant repel

Pet shampoo

Removes Sand and grease stains

Loosen up playing cards

Ease waxing pain

Freshen up your shoes

Add to plastic gloves to fit into them easier (eliminates moisture)

Freshen closets

Cool your sheets during the hot months

Makes a good deodorant and keeps your fresh

Soothes your skin

WHAT!? You are out of baby powder too :O ooooook… how about adding some translucent powder to your powder brush and brush that onto your roots/tzone. This is also a clever substitute for dry shampoo 😀

Passing of the Crown * 21st September 2014 *

September 26, 2014

SO my year as Miss Earth England has finally come to an end! What an incredible journey it has been. I feel so fortunate to have had the chance to compete at the international finals in Philippines for just less than one month with 90 beautiful ladies; it was an experience of a lifetime.

I am very lucky to have such a huge support network. Thank you to my family and friends who came to watch me win and who have been there for me all year round. Thank you to all the Miss Earth fans from around the world that have constantly supported me. All your lovely comments and emails have been much appreciated!

I worked so hard in the run up to the final and when I won the chance to represent England at one of the Top 3 pageants in the world it was a dream come true. I carried on my hard work all year round. I have always been involved with raising funds for various charities so I was thrilled to win the charity award last year as this meant so much to me especially as I was able to raise money for RSPCA in Leybourne; a charity close to my heart.

During my month in the Philippines I absorbed so much knowledge about the earth, different countries, environment, marine conservation, ecotourism, etc… I made some amazing friends for life from all around the world and built up so many superb memories!

All of the girls were asked to donate a gift from their respective countries in order to raise funds for the Typhoon Victims. My Great Granddad made a solid silver bangle, which I donated. It was the first bangle he ever made and I hope it will be cherished by its new owner.

I planted trees, taught school children about problems we face worldwide, ways to be eco friendly and information about the environment, visited orphanages, spent time with seriously sick children and typhoon victims, ate in the most amazing restaurants, made speeches on stage, performed my Shakespeare monologue at the talent round, gala dinners, gave interviews, got involved in all the challenges, had the most amazing spa day, met mayors of cities, ate so much food, pizza parties with the girls, karaoke on the bus, made a kite, collected a stash of about a gazillion biscuits, donuts, chocolate and crackers, walked in charity catwalk shows, got involved in various arts and crafts, I got the chance to travel to another island; Sorsogon, fell in love with Halo Halo… The list is endless!

When I competed in the final for the Miss Earth 2013 crown on stage I knew there was absolutely nothing more I could of done. 100% effort goes into everything I do. Even for me at the end of the pageant I was all glam’ed out! Picture Perfect everyday in heels, I have never smiled so much in my life 😀

Thank you to all of my sponsors for helping me prepare for the international finals, thank you to the director of Miss Earth Louise and to the judges last year for choosing me to represent England; I am so grateful. I would like to wish Justine, Gabriella, Yasmin and Romy representing the UK in this year’s Miss Earth final all the best! Enjoy every single moment of your time wearing the crown and having the opportunity to represent your country. I know you ladies will rock the Philippines <3 If you ever need any advice/information please do not hesitate to get in touch with me.

Lots of Love,

The Gateway of India

September 9, 2014

What a glorious place this is; situated in Colaba, Mumbai. You can witness the beautiful architecture whilst enjoying the fresh sea breeze in the all year round sun. People from all over the world come to see the Gateway.

It is extremely busy and there were a lot of people wanting photographs with my friends and I. I was more then happy to oblige but ended up staying a lot longer then expected. Opposite, is the famous Taj Hotel; which is a hot spot for tourists. The Taj is also an impressive building and you are provided with an excellent view from the Gateway of India.

There is also the option of taking an hours boat ride on the Arabian Sea to the Elephanta Caves. The caves lie just off the coast of the Arabian Sea and are one of the oldest rock cut structures in the country, I have visited the Caves and I would highly recommend taking this trip.

Sahara Star, Mumbai India

Sahara Star – Mumbai India

I lived at the Sahara Star hotel in Mumbai, India from September-December 2012. During this time I was working as Model/Hostess in India for Sahara. I throughly enjoyed my stay there and have always wished to return in the near future. The people are warm, friendly and incredibly hospitable. I highly recommend checking it out if you are planning on visiting Mumbai. It has serene ambience for both business and leisure travellers. The location is ideal as it only 10/15 minutes away from the airport and the hotel offers taxi services which is perfect so you do not have to flag one down in the street.

The hotel has a luxurious vibe with many attractions for example; a picturesque tropical lagoon that looks up to the world’s largest pillar less clear-to-sky dome. There are also three compound-curved, custom-designed glass elevators with panoramic views. It has 223 attractive rooms including 13 luxurious suites which are complimented by “7 specialty” restaurants which makes choosing places to eat each day/night a challenge!

The Ocean Restaurant is simply breath taking, the food is delicious and the atmosphere is beautiful.  There is a private dinning room which holds India’s largest marine aquarium providing home to many wonders of marine life. The dining room is perfect for private soirees as well as special celebrations. It is exclusive in every manner and features customized menus, elegant table settings and special service.

During my stay, I was lucky enough to live in several of the Earth Rooms, each one overlooking the tropical lagoon. The guest rooms are furnished with either a king-size bed or twin beds. All of the Earth room open to a balcony where the guest can enjoy a relaxing evening & a spectacular view. Room service is good and there is a boutique gym and spa on the ground floor. There are several gift shops in the hotel and a bakery… YUM!

I loved eating at the Earth Plate! There is a huge selection of food to choose from and even the fussiest of eaters would manage to fill up a plate or two! I always found myself loading up a second plate at the buffet. The desert table is extremely tempting and I would often have to trial several cakes and different ice cream flavours after my main meal(s)… Thank heavens they have a gym! What I found impressive was the fact that there was always something different on offer every day.  I liked the fact every now and then they would introduce foods from one particularly country i.e. One week in the month they may have a Thai week. And there would be an extra table of special dishes from Thailand to try out. The Earth Plate was by far my favourite place to dine at the Sahara Star!

I would love to go back in the near future 🙂

Sheesh that was Good!

August 14, 2014
I have been to Sheesh a few times; it is always a perfect evening.
To start the night off I usually order a few cocktails; Sheesh Martini, Cosmopolitan, Expresso Martini etc… Just to get the evening going.
I particularly rate the Meze Starter as you get a nice selection of dips and bread which you are able to share with 3-4people. I usually dine with quite a few friends so we normally order 2 or 3. For my mains I would say my favourite dish is the Fener Baligi (Monk fish kebab) which is sensationalFor desert I usually go for the little hot donuts with maple syrup and ice cream topped with pistachio and cinnamon… Just describing this desert is already making my mouth water… Mmm… The donuts arrive hot but not too hot to gobble down in a matter of seconds… they are unreal!
All the food portions are generous and everything is so god damn tasty! I would never really order Turkish food but I do love it here. The restaurant is always busy and at the atmosphere has a real buzz. The restaurant is fun, friendly and seriously glamourous. It is a lovely little place to eat especially if you are looking to celebrate your birthday. The staff are friendly and the manager Colin is always very welcoming and kind.
Check it out for yourselves:

Valentines Day in Marseille

August 12, 2014

I joined the InterContinental on Valentines evening 14th Feb for several cocktails and a light bite with my parnter. We had travelled to Marseille Vieux Port for a long weekend and I would have to admit dining at the InterContinental was the highlight of our stay in Marseille. We began the evening with several Manhattans which quite quickly got us into a good spirit for the evening. The staff were fantastic and made an already good evening even better. One particular staff member called Julian, was very accommodating even his staff moved silently and professionally around him even whilst he was getting to know his guests. Having spent some hours at the InterContinental we sadly had to leave (at 1AM) having enjoyed many cocktails, several light bites to eat and a bottle of wine…

I hope we were well behaved at the end of the evening 🙂

Knowsley Suite Hotel Review

August 11, 2014

My friends got married over the second weekend in August 2014 (Saturday 9th August). I stayed at the Knowsley Suite Hotel with my partner. The drive from London was long and due to weather conditions took us over 4.5 hours to arrive (without any stops). All you look forward to at this time is a warm welcome, a nice room and a cup of tea!

We booked two nights at the Knowsley Suites Hotel in an ‘Executive Suite’ which proved to be spacious, clean and close to the reception area. The suite was perfect for my partner and I as we were able to get ready in separate rooms if we wished to. There area few mirrors dotted around the suite so you can do your hair/makeup in either the bedroom, living room or bathroom.

There is a decent sized living room which has a desk, office chair, sofa, separate television, mini table and a small area with a kettle, coffees, teas etc. The bedroom was again roomy with a well-dressed bed, cushions and neat sheets. The bathroom was an average size had a shower curtain as opposed to a screen which I personally prefer. All in all the room was perfectly clean and much better than other hotel bedrooms we have stayed at before.

In the morning we made our way to the breakfast buffet. The full English breakfast was tasty and I even managed to get some vegetarian sausages on the sunday morning. You can help yourselves to cereals, cooked English food and many varieties of eggs and continentals pastries. Again very good for the unconventional breakfast feaster like myself as I like to have a random assortment of foods!

The only disappoint we had with staying in the hotel was that the rooms were quite hot (no air con) and there was a loud noise that sounded like a broken machine/fan that lasted about half an hour on Sunday morning around 8:00am; to our annoyance this woke us up. I did notify the staff when I checked out. Late night (early morning) room service took around 20-30minutes to arrive which consisted of tuna and cheese, and egg and cress sandwiches. The ironing board was also broken which was slightly annoying as my partner needed to iron his shirt desperately on the morning of the wedding. The staff said they would get another ironing board but it never came. After a few phone calls later they confirmed they did not have one they could lend us. When we returned after the wedding reception around 1:00am there was an iron board propped up against the wall in our room. Our room was not made on the Saturday morning which was a shame. Other than a few issues I would stay at this hotel again and did enjoy my stay. The breakfast was good and there was another choices to choose from. I wish I had time to check out the spa and gym facilities but unfortunately I had to leave early Sunday as it was a 6hour drive home. Overall I would recommend the hotel 🙂

My prayers have been answered… A La Marmite Cupcake

June 11, 2014

OK… so yesterday here I was banging on to people around me about how I am jumping back on the healthy bandwagon bla bla gym bla fitness bla protein this superfood that… zzzz

Well this morning Benjamin (the eldest of my four brothers… but younger than me) decided to corrupt me with a marmite cupcake! OH EM GE

I have been looking forward to, firstly finding somewhere that sells this bad boy AND secondly munching it.

SO whether this sickens you or not my conclusion is: freaking amazing!

This Love IT or Hate IT treat is a combination of yeast/salt/sweet/chocolate/caramel deliciousness.

I advise… no, actually I order all marmite heads to get yourself down to Lola’s and purchase this beaut of a concoction.

Currently stocked in several Lola stores. You can pick up your marmite treat at Selfridges, Topshop Oxford Circus, Covent Garden, Brent Cross, Bluewater, King’s Cross Station and at the chain’s flagship store in Mayfair. It is only available for a limited time; four weeks to be precise. So hurry your cupcake cake sugar loving bubble butt on down to one of these store asap.

Murad ‘Pom Power’ Pore Cleansing Facial

May 13, 2014

Recently my skin has broken out in all kinds of disgusting lumps and bumps… I seriously needed to get my ass marching to the nearest Facial experts. I decided to scour the internet to see what deals I could find. There are some great offers if you delve deep. I came across a super cool site called Wahanda and managed to squeeze in an appointment with Murad in their beauty room at House of Fraser, 318 Oxford Street for a Pom-Power Pore Cleansing Facial:

The perfect pick-me-up for skin of all ages. This facial uses the wonderful Vitalic range of products from Murad, which harness the powerful anti-oxidant effects of the Pomegranate fruit to energise and renew your complexion. This facial includes a gentle peel which will help to brighten and resurface your skin. This facial is suitable for all skin types and is a very good facial for younger clients.’

The whole process lasts about 40minutes and I was generally really happy with the outcome. My therapist Natasha, was warm, friendly and passionate about her job, she got straight to work on my face without any 10-15minutes flaffing about like a few therapists I have come into contact with over the years tend to do. I was impressed with her knowledge of the products and her professionalism. Natasha also took off all my makeup (most therapists leave my mascara on) and I left with my skin positivity glowing. I would definitely recommend this treatment and I hope to go back again soon 🙂
