The Red Statement Blazer

April 5, 2017

I for one am a sucker for a blazer; I have a dozen different colours/styles hung up in my wardrobe (or say packed in my suitcase, depending on where I am jetting off to).

And lets be honest, we all love the classic black blazer. I mean, it is sophisticated, timeless and forever classy…how can it ever do you wrong? BUT now summer is approaching I think it is time to give the loyal black blazer a well deserved rest and maybe swap it for a statement piece instead… how about RED?

This is one of favourite blazers I bought from Zara not so long along. I like to style around the blazer or even rock it as a suit (I have the matching trousers of course).

OHHH and I don’t suggest walking around in nothing but a bikini and your blazer… just like I did for one of my most recent photo shoots. It was a lot colder than it looks… trust me.

GraceBay Babes

March 28, 2017

I stayed at The Grace Bay Club which is situated in Turks and Caicos for one week in January 2017. If you are able to visit the Caribbean then this Island and the resort should be on your list; if not first! I throughly enjoyed my stay and I am not being too kind in saying the resort was absolutely breath taking. Grace Bay Club is very spacious so you never feel crowded even on days that were notably busier then usual. The staff were extremely friendly, warm and accommodating… AND I was particular sold over by the two guys who managed to chop down several coconuts for the girls and I to drink!!! The GBC beach is mesmorising; the sand is so white whilst the sea was incredibly blue… If you get a chance to explore the island then please do as there are many amazing places to visit and locals are genuinely happy to accommodate/see you. If I’m honest, at the end of my stay I was definitely not ready to pack up and leave for London. I cannot wait to return sometime in the near future!

Some of the places I visited outside the resort:

  • Danny Buoys (The local pub/bar and there is Karaoke on selected nights)
  • The Tuscany (another resort on the island)
  • Coco Bisto (Fish was to dieeee for)
  • Bella Luna (Yummy Pizza)
  • Da Conch Shack (Amazing Lobster Dishes!)
  • Coyaba (is a MUST)
  • Somewhere Cafe (Check out the Fajitas and I also went Scuba Diving on the beach there)
  • On Thursday night I went to Fish Fry.

Location: Grace Bay is a 15 minutes away from Providenciales International Airport.

Facilities:

  • 3 restaurants
  • 2 bars
  • 3 swimming pools
  • Anani Spa
  • Jacuzzi
  • fitness centre
  • 2 floodlit tennis courts
  • hobie cats
  • kayaks
  • windsurfing
  • scuba diving
  • Deep sea and bone fishing
  • boat excursions available
  • 18-hole championship golf course nearby
  • Complimentary internet access and all international phone calls from guest room land lines are free of charge
  • Personal concierge services.

Thankfully the weather is pretty much always Sunny in Los Angeles so shooting in October was never going to be a worry.

It was a pleasure to shoot with Carlo; he is fun, creative, easy going and professional! I am already looking forward to shooting with him again soon… HEY any excuse to get back to LA 😛

New wave of brave brides

October 14, 2015

New wave of brave brides…

Something old, something new, something borrowed, something… see-through?

New York’s Bridal Fashion Week saw near-naked models strut down the runway in some rather risky designs. It seems the desire to wear these raunchy gowns have grown from the start of the year and now sheer translucent bridal gowns are being welcomed onto the isle. Some of the gowns have a deep plunging neckline, whilst others opt for super thigh high splits or even complete nipple exposure. It is one way to demand the crowds attention and another to push bridal wear into the next millennia.

Is it time to wave goodbye to the big puffy under skirts, long statement trains, lace veils and tiaras??? Surely not… but for those brave another to wear these daring gowns make sure you kitted out with nipple covers and maybe some heavy duty tit tape.

LCF fashion Show 15 Designer: Edda Grimes

July 15, 2015

London College of Fashion (LCF) Fashion Show 15

Here are a few behind the scenes shots of me modelling for Edda Grimes at the LCF Fashion Show 11/07/15

Edda Gimnes’s illustrated monochromatic outfits, proved a punchy statement as models transformed into real life 3D fashion illustrations by manifesting a hand drawn 2D effect that surely left us wanting for more.

Using mainly a white canvas as the backdrop to her approach, thick black ‘pen lines’ stood out for all the right reasons amongst the overlooking crowd.

The work felt almost surreal as models who resembled moving imagery caught your eye at halt, details such as gloves, headwear and eyewear were all incorporated within the dress and suit designs.

This was my ‘first look’ of the day and I thoroughly enjoyed rocking this awesome outfit. I felt like a 3D re-vamped Audrey Hepburn. I thought the accessories i.e. hats, sunnies and gloves were a fab finishing statement and completed the look perfectly.

Spot A Fake Model Agency

June 22, 2015

Who should you trust?…
How to spot a fake model agency

Having been contacted numerous times by so called and emailed by model agents, in the U.K and oversees, I am extremely wary of the growth and intelligence of this (well organised) industry. BE AWARE!

I would like to keep young adults (particularly women) aware of fake model agencies and show you how to avoid rogue model counts and agents.
There are many model agencies that take on girls as young as 14 years old, therefore it is extremely important to be cautious. Even the well experiences and well travelled models can be affected or targeted. There are a number of background checks you can undertake when being contacted by a model scout

How to spot a FAKE Model Agency:

  1. Ask questions. A good, legitimate agency should have no problem providing you with detailed answers about their company and should gladly offer references if needed. If the person with whom you are speaking is hesistant to reveal information or is very eager to have you sign a contract and pay upfront fees, chances are you’re dealing with a scam. Stay away from agencies who aggressively advertise in the newspaper, free local magazines or on the radio. Well-known, reputable agencies don’t need to advertise.
  2. Find out if the agency signs talent for free or if they charge upfront fees. A modeling agency that requires you to pay fees for representation before you get any work is not legitimate. Most agencies should explain on their website that they don’t charge any fees and will only take a percentage of what you are paid when you get work. If an agency requires you to send money or pay for a professional photographer to develop your portfolio before you sign with them, then they’re probably not legit.
  3. Note if the agency lists clients they’ve represented and the types of jobs they book for their models. Look through the agency’s roster of models and examine the quality of work they’ve done.
  4. Legitimate modeling agencies operate during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 9 to 5. If a modeling agency wants you to meet in the evening or on the weekend, it’s probably not a safe bet. Look for the agency’s business license when you visit. If it is in plain view, then it’s a legitimate modeling agency. Note whether they display high-quality photographs of their models. If you see photos that look cheesy or look scanned or photocopied, then you’ve probably stumbled on a fake.
  5. Be wary of an agency that pushes you to pay for services such as classes and photoshoots. Real agencies provide these services to their models for free.
  6. Review all contracts and paperwork carefully. Legitimate agencies only take money from their clients on commission. At the time of publication, they usually take about 20 percent from the jobs you book

P.S – Always check the email address you have received an email from. If it looks legitimate, click ‘reply’ and make sure the domain details are still the same as the agency. If you are contacted by someone claiming to be from a model agency, feel free to email our team here on management@chloeothen.com and we’ll contact the agency on your behalf to report the abuse.

Be safe…

Miss Universe GB Biography

June 21, 2015

My Miss Universe GB Biography

I am 24 years young living in cosmopolitan London. As a professional in finance I am also a model having had success with major brands and high street names. Being the eldest of eight children, I am blessed with a close family bond. During my school years I completed my GCSE’s a year earlier than required and was awarded a drama scholarship that ended with a guildhall performing arts exam and qualification.

I dream big, set goals and most of the time achieve enough to satisfy my thirst. This drive has rallied my many charity fund raising efforts. Dedication to health and fitness is one of my key interests; this often sets me up for new challenges such as skiing and participating in mud runs. Besides travelling, enjoying food, blogging, soaking up the latest fashion and business news, I study German and strive to be fluent.

I am ambitious, motivated and committed to achieving in all that I put my mind to. I believe competing in Miss Universe GB is not only empowering but it also inspires women to be the best version of themselves; someone all encompassing, rounded and honest. It is my dream to be a good role model not only for the youth of today but also for women worldwide. I look forward to the finals and am fortunate to have the opportunity to be a finalist.

It would be my greatest honor to represent Great Britain in Miss Universe 2015. I will wear the title with utmost pride whilst dedicating myself to the role. It will mean absolutely everything to me to become Miss Universe GB 2015.

Who would have thought that in 1952, a local “bathing beauty” competition spearheaded by Catalina Swimwear in Long Beach, CA would transform into an international annual tradition with countless young women around the world vying to become a part of Miss Universe history? As millions of fans have watched around the globe, the contest has evolved into a powerful, year-round,  international organization that advances and supports opportunities for these young women.

These women are savvy, goal-oriented and aware. The delegates who become part of the Miss Universe Organization display those characteristics in their everyday lives, both as individuals, who compete with hope of advancing their careers, personal and humanitarian goals, and as women who seek to improve the lives of others.

When in doubt leather it out… *Arts Club*

January 19, 2015
arts club

On a ‘Hump Day’ evening I found myself dancing the night away at the Arts Club, Dover Street.

The live band/singers were just fantastic at Arts Club. I wish I had known the name of the group! They managed to get everyone up out of their seats and busting some shameless moves on the dance floor.

Even though my friends and I had a table of alcohol (ahhh)… I kept up my Dry January regime and ordered several Peter Rabbit’s (Beetroot, Orange and Carrot juice) – this kept my energy levels high for a few hours… well, it was that or the fact I had also consumed a few sugary treats consisting of coconut sorbet and a bunch of Art’s chocolates…

Shop the look: Zara leather skirt, Zara blouse and Stuart Weitzman Highland boots. Perfect for a day and night look 🙂

Fully recommend Arts Club in Dover Street!
